U.S. Seizes Russian-Flagged Oil Tanker Amid Sanctions Enforcement

The United States has seized an oil tanker sailing under the Russian flag as part of its continued enforcement of sanctions related to the ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Russia. The vessel was reportedly carrying a large quantity of crude oil, and U.S. authorities claim it was involved in violating international sanctions placed on Russian energy exports.


According to sources familiar with the operation, the tanker was intercepted in international waters after being monitored for suspicious activities linked to sanctioned entities. The U.S. Department of Justice and the Treasury Department have not yet disclosed the exact location of the seizure, but they confirmed the ship is now under investigation.


This action underscores Washington’s commitment to tightening control over global enforcement of energy sanctions, particularly aimed at reducing Russia's revenue from oil exports, which fund its military operations.
